Community Hosting and Free Coworking

Pollinators is throwing open its doors at CityHive on Fridays, offering free coworking space to all members.

The move is part of Pollinators’ ongoing bid to nurture innovation and offer lively working spaces and facilities to its members.

In return, Pollinators asks that coworkers simply provide some kind of positive impact to the Pollinators community, whether it’s helping with tasks at CityHive, doing one-off jobs in their area of expertise, mentoring or offering another form of input.

Pollinators junior space host Lia Thornton hoped the move would help more people to reap the benefits of coworking.

“We receive such great feedback on how valuable it is to work in a coworking space,” Lia said.

“People love that great combination of social interaction and a productive working environment.

“Here they can access excellent office facilities, while also enjoying the benefits of networking – it’s amazing what kinds of serendipitous meetings can happen if you create the right environment for them.”

Lia said the move was part of Pollinators’ vision to contribute to ‘Greater Geraldton being globally recognised as a model for sustainable communities.’

She said voluntary contribution and collaboration was at the heart of coworking, quoting the definition:

“Coworking is the social gathering of a group of people who are still working independently, but who share values, and who are interested in the synergy that can happen from working with people who value working in the same place alongside each other.”

Community coworkers will receive an induction in which they will learn how to use the Podio communication method, navigate the Pollinators website and use CityHive space and equipment.
