What is your venture?
Horizon HR is a consultancy focused on Human Resources apart from recruitment, meaning all aspects of employee relations, performance management, industrial relations, investigations and training. We help employers both get the basics right to avoid common pitfalls, and also deal with challenges like managing performance & disciplinary issues and making strategic decisions in situations such as termination or redundancy.
What’s inspired your work?
I like to see organisations get set up correctly and grow relationships with their employees that are fair, productive and effective. There aren’t many people that offer the services I do, and good employee relations can either be the basis for success, or become a critical, costly, and challenging aspect of running a business.
My background is more than over 20 years experience in employee relations, organisational development and operations management. This has included roles with a Perth based HR Consultancy Company, the Police Service of Northern Ireland and Belfast City Council. Prior to that I served in the British Army for 24 years in various countries throughout the world.
What’s your focus for the next 3 months?
We’re relatively new and are focused on both delivering our services to existing clients in the Midwest, and meeting new ones. We are doing work with Pollinators members as well as Pollinators itself, with some interesting and innovative contracts.
Every month I’ll be visiting Geraldton and available to meet face-to-face with members for a free initial conversation. If people are interested in what we offer, we can work on a retainer basis, work on specific cases, and deliver training.
How can people connect or contribute to your venture’s success?
Make time to have a chat and see if there’s anything we can do to help. I’ve participate in Meetups, Labs and will be available each month, as well as remotely for ongoing support.
