Are you a group doing amazing things for your community? Come to Cityhive THIS FRIDAY for our GeroSoup – Pledge for Goodness  and “share the goodness” you are doing in your community!

Pollinators’ GeroSoup Pledge for Goodness event is not only an evening of community ideas, great food and drink but also a chance to learn more about the upcoming Goodness Festival 2017!

Goodness Festival

The Goodness Festival 2017 was created to inspire and engage more than 3000 people in science, sustainability and innovation engagement activities through a week-long festival of activities. We have specific purposes aligned with National Science Week, Pollinators and Scinapse strategies.

Goodness Festival 2017 runs from August 12th to August 20th and has many exciting events lined up already; Astrophotography exhibition, ‘Inspiring Women in Science’ breakfast with Dr Rowena Ball, Ministry of Data Hackathon, a Prehistoric Aquarium, Science Communication workshops, many guest speakers and guided tours of ‘secret spaces’.

What is GeroSoup?

GeroSoup is an innovative event that crowdfunds support for local innovations and ideas. This GeroSoup, Pollinators are targeting local community groups to talk about the work they are currently doing to spread the Goodness in their community.

Whether you are a sports group, charity, animal rescue, dance group, arts group, school group or something else – we want to know about what you are doing for your community. Pollinators invites you to come and speak about your local group while learning about others.

Every person in the room not only hears about great ideas but can also pledge $$ to each of these inspiring community groups.

The meal, venue and event is FREE thanks to our partners, while the $20 you bring is yours to allocate to the community groups you want to support on the night.

Want to Pitch for your community group?

Member Social Meetup — Third Friday

Meet and catch-up with Pollinators members at our monthly Third Friday Social Meetup.

Each month we have an inspiring topic, guest or feature that attracts all you doers, thinkers, innovators and creators.

This month we’ll be focusing on ‘What shall we do together in 2015?’

Each year Pollinators Inc invests time in evaluating the year just gone. During this time, we:

  • Check-in and strengthen personal connections with and amongst members,
  • Understand member needs, aspirations and opportunities,
  • Consider changes to our services, programs and communications.

On Friday 23rd January we’re going to discuss this year’s program of events, services and programs. We’ll share and discuss:

  • Learning, insights statistics and stories from 2014,
  • Highlights of the feedback and suggestions we’ve been hearing from members,
  • What we do in 2015.

We’re very openly considering any changes that could ensure the health and resilience of your ventures, Pollinators, and our communities this year, and how that will set the tone for our strategy to 2015.

Each month, topics and guests are sourced through suggestions from members: suggest a speaker or topic or any sort of event.

On the Third Friday of each month these events generally feature:

  • An MC to facilitate connections and keep it rolling,
  • A compelling question that gets conversations started,
  • Special guests to share their stories, views or news,
  • Drinks and nibbles to keep the energy bubbling.

As David Bornstein, author of “How to Change the World” said: “Social entrepreneurs identify resources where people only see problems. They view the community as the solution, not the passive beneficiary. They begin with the assumption of competence and unleash resources in the communities they’re serving.” (http://wildpollinators.org 2012) This quote really resonated with me, as […]
