BaseCamp profile – Carol Redford – Astrotourism WA

There are two billion people on planet Earth who can no longer see the Milky Way in their night sky.

In a world where artificial light pollution is increasing by 2% every year, Carol Redford is making sure that Western Australia capitalises on its world-class dark night sky.

Carol is working with Local Government to develop a Stargazing Trail of Astrotourism Towns across the Wheatbelt and Mid West. The towns share the dark night sky with international visitors from light polluted areas around the world. At the same time, she works with the Local Governments to reduce light pollution and retain this valuable tourism asset in regional WA for decades to come.

Carol said BaseCamp was instrumental in helping her to understand the innovative aspects of her project.

“I’m always keen to learn new things and improve what I’m doing in my business, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity,”

“Working through the tasks and activities in the incubator workshop sessions, enabled me to develop my pitch and focus my offering,” Ms Redford said.
