Influencing: the theory and practice of effective leadership

October 24, 2014 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Pollinators, Mid West Academy of Sport and Total Leader and Coach Solutions have opened up this session of the Catalyst program for those wanting to develop their ability to sustainably, positively influence others to achieve success for their venture or project.

We all can (and probably want to be) be better influencers. Every day we are consciously or unconsciously influencing others to do something different or differently. We do our best to motivate staff or volunteers or fellow citizens. We struggle to enable our teams to complete projects, deliver great service, win games, or lead successful community-scale change. While we may continually work on ways to exert our influence, but we may often fall short of real success. This session is about increasing your ability to successfully, effectively, ethically influence.

This training will be relevant to for-profit, non-profit, sporting club members or startup entrepreneurs who:

  • Are leading or effecting change in people, organisations or communities,
  • See scope for being more effective in the influence of their communication and actions,
  • Value enhanced, sustainable relationships with their staff, volunteers, customers and community.

Please join us and invest a few hours with experts and be introduced to a creative and effective approach to ‘influencing’. This workshop will be lead by Greg Bayne from Total Leader and Coach Solutions. Greg is passionate about maximising the performance of people and organisations. He believes that with the right attitude, support, hard work, commitment, and mindful deliberate practice MDP™, we can all reach our true potential. This passion and belief comes from not only his experience working as a psychologist but also from having working with and leading high performing teams at work, in sport and academia.

Outcomes from this workshop and training session will include:

  • Why influence?
  • Credibility-Curiosity Matrix
  • The way our brains are wired
  • Start with ‘Why’
  • Strategies for increasing credibility

Preview of some of the tools and approach that will be used, check out TLC’s pages on their models of Leadership and Influence.

Morning tea and lunch is included!
