Who are you?
Luke Bayley, partner of Fiona Stewart, Geraldton Headspace Manager and father of Tanami (13) and Banjo (10). Recently moved to Geraldton from White Wells Station which is an 80,000 ha nature reserve between Perenjori and Payne’s Find. Love Music and wild places
What are you working on?
I am currently employed by Bush Heritage Australia as their Executive Manager for the West Region. In this role I oversee a diverse team across the Kimberley, Mid-West, Desert Region and South West parts of Western Australia working towards Healthy Country protected forever. I also have national responsibility for Bush Heritage Aboriginal Partnership Program.
I received a Bachelor of Applied Science from Charles Sturt University and have worked for over 15 years in remote and regional communities on projects that align conservation, economic development and social impact. I have extensive experience in working with Aboriginal communities to develop land and sea country programs and in the design and delivery of conservation and land management programs with the agricultural sector.
Who do you collaborate with?
In my role, I collaborate a lot with Aboriginal corporations, community groups and ranger programs. I also work closely with Local and State Government.
Is there an innovation you’re loving right now?
I think innovation is overrated – common sense and commitment are more important.
Is there a time when you are most creative?
When I am around positive and interesting people, on country and often after some decent exercise or with a guitar or piece of vinyl in hand.
